A Poem on Genocide

Zionism in Action

Let’s call it out for what it is, this wilful destruction

of all things Palestinian, this all-consuming genocide,

this visiting of death on children cowering in tents.

Let’s call it out for what it is, this defiant dissolution

of a precarious postwar body of internation law

designed to mitigate the worst of human appetites.

Let’s call it out for what it is, this fake global campaign

to divert culpability, to condemn as antisemites

Jewish protesters on the streets, elevate evil over good.

Let’s call it out for what it is, this Hitlerian ambition

to create a Greater Israel out of the dust and ashes,

the homes and olive groves of indigenous peoples.

Let’s call it out for what it is, this final debunking

of the myth the West knows best, holds in its soiled

paws the prospect for a better future for all.

Let’s call it out for what it is, this obsequiousness,

this sickening servitude to the Zionist Netanyahu

and the prioritisation racial citizenship over lives.

Let’s call it out for what it is, a geopolitical tantrum

by a West fearful of decline, of a China gaining fast

on the outside lane, of a globe unsafe for plunder.

Let’s call it out for what it is, this crude weaponizing

of antisemitism in a final, desperate bid to arrest

resistance, to fortify a crumbling empire on the run.

Let’s call it out for what it is, a denial of a North

versus South global battle dictated by the needs

of the 1%, of wealth, whiteness and masculinity.

Let’s call it out for what it is, a Western outpost

given licence and arms to murder, maim and exile,

all done in the name of its own godforsaken god.
